How the analyzer scores a message
Each rule represents a tactic that shows up again and again in scam reports. The score is additive and capped at 100: a message with a link, a deadline and a request for a code will score high even if it looks professional. A low score is not a guarantee — it means none of the common markers appeared.
| Signal | Weight | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Link in the message | +30 | The strongest single marker. Philippine authorities summarize their advice as: if there is a link, treat it as a scam. |
| Asks for OTP / PIN | +25 | No real bank, wallet or telco ever needs your one-time code. |
| Prize / reward | +15 | You cannot win a raffle you did not join. |
| Job or investment bait | +15 | “Like videos for ₱3,000 a day” and guaranteed-return crypto are top scam categories. |
| Deadline or threat | +12 | Urgency is engineered to stop you from verifying. |
| Payment / fee / delivery story | +10 each | Small “fees” are the hook for card theft. |
Scammers now inject texts into genuine-looking brand threads using illegal cell-site simulators, so even a message that appears under your bank's name can be fake. Always open the official app directly instead of tapping a link.
